about

Flæne is a finger-style acoustic guitarist, singer-songwriter & sound artist currently bunkered with his instruments in a former underground car-park on the southern shore of the River Thames.

Originally born in Newcastle the son of an itinerant Irish labourer, he spent a good part of his early life deep in a southern forest before moving to the back alleys and derelict buildings of the capital.

His songs and lyrics are consequently marinated in imagery, both rural and urban.

For numerous years Flæne mixed/created sound for films, and produced several off-the-wall radio docs/podcasts but once the songs grew too insistent to ignore they found expression in a debut album ‘Spoor’ released in 2025.

His cinematic shady alt-folk songs often involve field recordings gathered from long walks through different landscapes…. blended with the spirited collaborations of musical co-conspirators.

With binaural content and spacious production, Flæne’s recordings are therefore best experienced via headphones.

As a live performance, Flæne’s gigs feature various concoctions of musicians;  often in duo form with Nick Doyne-Ditmas on double bass, and as a trio with the addition of Sir Eddie Real on percussion.
